Common faults

The weak point of VW clusters is the central FIS (MFD) display. On Golf Mk4, Bora and Passat B5/B5.5 it loses rows and columns of pixels, and the fault typically gets worse as the cabin warms up. On Golf Mk5, Touran and Passat B6 the fault is the same, just a different display type. Importantly, the immobiliser and mileage are coded into the VW cluster, so replacing it requires programming. A repair keeps your original cluster with all its data, so no coding is needed.
