Mitsubishi instrument cluster repair
On the Mitsubishi Colt Z30 (2004–2012) the information display on top of the dash (clock, outside temperature, trip computer) goes blank, flickers or resets by itself. The cause is almost always cracked solder joints on the display board, and it can be repaired by sending the module by post.
Symptoms we repair

Common faults
The Colt centre display has its own small board, and the fault is almost always mechanical: heating and cooling crack the solder joints, including those at the chips and the connector. So the display works intermittently, goes dark, or the trip computer resets while driving as if the battery had just been reconnected. In the repair we open the display module and reflow or replace the failed joints. The Mitsubishi Express cluster is shared with the Renault Trafic and has the same screen fault.
